BlackBerry DTEK50 is fully Android, super secure and slimmest ever BlackBerry

BlackBerry continues to believe that it can turn around its fortunes in the hardware segment and the latest attempt in this direction comes in the form of fully Android and a secure BlackBerry DTEK50 smartphone.

At just 7.4mm thickness, the BlackBerry DTEK50 is the thinnest ever smartphone from the Canadian giant and one of the key things beyond the slim looks is the absence of company’s highly prized keyboard. DTEK50 ships with Android 6.0 Marshmallow, combining BlackBerry’s unique security, privacy, and productivity with the full Android experience. Because its Android, BlackBerry doesn’t have to bother with apps and users will have access to over a million Google Play apps and widgets, Google Now, and the ability to easily manage and stream from a wide range of smart devices.

While Android is good, BlackBerry says that they aren’t relying on Android alone and are throwing in some of their own nifty enhancements as well including the BlackBerry Convenience Key, BlackBerry Device Search, Pop-Up Widgets, Instant Actions, Gesture Controls among other things.

The DTEK50 packs a 5.2-inch full HD display made of scratch-resistant glass. BlackBerry says that people can possibly steal your passwords through fingerprint smudges and to ensure that it doesn’t even leave that as a possibility, it using a screen treated with a specialized oil-resistant coating to protect against fingerprint smudges.

DTEK50 also sports a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and an 8-megapixel front-facing flash camera, both equipped with a wide range of professional settings, including live color filters and manual controls.

While the physical keyboard is absent, BlackBerry says that the DTEK50’s smart keyboard learns how you type and uses that information to increase your typing speed and accuracy. Through the BlackBerry Intelligent Keyboard software, it provides word suggestions in up to three languages of your choice and lets you flick them into place for faster conversations. While typing, you can also swipe horizontally from left to right to delete a previous word, and swipe vertically from top to bottom to toggle between letters, numbers, and characters.

The trumpet of security is something that BlackBerry doesn’t stop blowing. With DTEK50 also it is doing by having built device security from the start including special emphasis on privacy. You can learn more about DTEK50 here and check out video below:
