Surface Pro 3 battery issue fix coming soon says Microsoft

Microsoft has revealed in ones of its latest updates that its Surface Pro 3 team has already started working on a fix for the battery degradation issue and a software update will be released soon.

The update comes just days after Microsoft had ruled out a possible hardware problem behind the battery issue and instead had suggested that the problem is to do with software. The latest update should come as a relief to Surface Pro 3 owners as they will not be required to take their tablet to a nearby Microsoft Store to get the issue fixed.

Users suffering from this issue have been speculating that the issue was a physical one and that Microsoft will be required to offer free replacement of batteries; however, that is now out of the window after Microsoft confirmed the issue isn’t a physical one.

A Microsoft representative noted in a reply to the original complaint that very limited number of Surface Pro 3 owners are affected by this battery drain issue and investigations have confirmed that the issue isn’t to do with battery cells.

“Based on our investigations we can confirm that it is not an issue with the battery cells, and we believe this is something that can be addressed via software”, the Microsoft representative noted earlier.

In the latest update, Microsoft has confirmed that the issue is fixable through software update. “We can now confirm that this Surface Pro 3 battery capacity question is not a hardware issue, but one that can be addressed with a software update”, Microsoft notes.

“Our team has been working on, and is now testing, an update that will address this. We’ll publish the update as soon as it has passed our quality assurance process. For now, you should not consider replacing your device as an update is pending”, the message reads further.
