Nike Launches New Sports Bands For The Apple Watch

Nike has announced the launch of new sports bands for the Apple Watch that are color-coordinated with a view to matching the sportswear manufacturer’s new sneakers called Air VaporMix Flyknit ‘Day to Night’. The new bands from Nike will be made from material that is similar to what has been used to build the Apple Watch Nike+ bands.

The colors that the bands will come in vary from fuchsia to cotton-candy pink to deep blue. Some of the features of the new bands include perforations that are inspired by Swiss cheese which are aimed at helping with ventilation and sweat management.

Available next month

The new sports from Nike will be priced at $49 each and will be available from early next month. They will be available from either Nike’s retail stores located across the globe or on Nike’s website. Additionally, the bands will also be available from stores belonging to Apple, on Apple’s online store and from various resellers of Apple products.

This is not the first time that Nike and Apple are partnering in developing products. Last year the Apple Watch Nike+ Edition was unveiled during a launch event for the iPhone 7 and was aimed at consumers interested who are interested in fitness.

More recently, the sportswear giant launched another limited edition of the Apple Watch and which is only available from Nike’s online store. The Nike sneakers for which the new sports bands are made to match with will also be available from June and will be retailing at $190 a pair. Also earlier in the month Nike begun retailing cases of the iPhone 7 that are inspired on the Air Force 1 and Rosche sneakers.

Independent director

Part of the reason why Nike and Apple are able to collaborate is because the chief executive officer of the Cupertino, California-based tech giant, Tim Cook, sits on the board of Nike. He was appointed to Nike’s board in 2005 when he was the chief operating officer of Apple. Currently he is the lead independent director of the sportswear giant.

The new sports bands for the Apple Watch comes amidst speculation that the next version of the wearable will have added health functionalities including sleep tracking and glucose monitoring. This emerged after reports indicated that Cook was sported wearing a blood sugar-monitoring device that had been attached to an Apple Watch. It has also been previously reported that Apple had hired a team of biomedical engineers.
